Let it out.
Record the thought as it comes. A rough idea, a reminder, a whole tangent. Your original audio stays with the capture.
A LITTLE ROOM FOR THINKING OUT LOUD
The idea on your walk. The missing piece.
The “oh, one more thing.”
Say it while it’s there. Give it a home for later.

A little space for ideas
Ideas / A little space.mdAn illustrated preview. No microphone needed.
Your best ideas rarely wait
for you to open a notebook.
They arrive between meetings, halfway through a walk, or just as you’re about to do something else. SideThought is a place to catch them, without asking them to be finished.
Start with your voice. Come back with a little distance. Turn the useful part into a note you can keep building on.
From a few spoken words to something
you can return to. At your own pace.
Record the thought as it comes. A rough idea, a reminder, a whole tangent. Your original audio stays with the capture.
What if we kept a little space for the ideas that aren’t quite ready yet?
Still your words. A little clearer.Read the transcript. Correct a word, give it a title, or listen again. There’s room to think before deciding where it belongs.
Make a Markdown note or add to an existing one. Review the change, then export it or approve a save to your GitHub notebook.
Thoughts are personal. The way you keep them should feel that way, too.
Keep recordings and drafts close. On-device transcription works when supported by your device and language.
Plain Markdown, alongside the ideas you already have. Keep using the tools you love.
Read the proposed change before it reaches GitHub. Your approval is part of the process.
SideThought is coming soon for iPhone and iPad. The illustration above shows the idea; it isn’t a recording of the app. We’ll share availability here when it’s ready. A release date and pricing haven’t been announced yet.
The first focus is capturing your voice, reviewing the transcript, and turning it into useful notes. Continuous conversation and hands-free voice commands are ideas for the future.
No. The capture flow starts with a local inbox. You can decide on a notebook later or export the text as Markdown. Saving directly to GitHub requires a connected notebook and the appropriate permissions.
Recordings and local drafts stay on your device. Transcription depends on the speech support available for your device and language; you can keep the recording even when transcription isn’t available. GitHub saves require a connection.
SideThought is built around plain Markdown. Keep your notes alongside the rest of your notebook, and continue working with them in your favorite editor. Your ideas should be easy to take with you.
